MINUTES
Minutes: Dr. Johnson responded to public comments and stated his support for the public being able to voice their opinion on issues within the District, but stressed his dismay with disparaging remarks being focused on a particular person. Kristin Garrison, Planning Director, provided Board Members with a brief summary of the topics that will be discussed at today's workshop, which included A Draft of Recommended Adjustments to the 2007-2011 Plan and Justification for changes; Sections of the Five Year Plan and Capital Budget sent to the local governments on June 29, 2006; Executive Summary; 2007-2011 Summary of Capital Improvement Projects; School Data and Concurrency Service Areas with Pre-CSR and CSR Capacity; Board Member questions and staff responses from the June 7, 2006 Board Workshop. Mr. Moore responded to public comments regarding the Jupiter Farms middle school. Dr. Benaim questioned if the demographer's report reflects the development of Scripps. Board Members and Staff exchanged extensive dialogue regarding the modernization of C.O. Taylor/Kirklane Elementary. Board Members discussed the following topics: $30 million from the State for Class Size Reduction; career academies at Wellington High, Spanish River High and Glades Central High; facility requirements and cost for each type of academy; assessment of the alternative education facilities;
